Become a member of CSA Newark in 2015 and join a growing crowd of local organic veggie lovers enjoying weekly fresh produce grown by John Kruger in Andover, NJ.

All of John’s veggies are certified organic. His farm was formerly known as Starbright Farm, but is now called: Circle Brook Farm. John supplies CSA pick-up locations in Newark, Montclair, Jersey City, Morristown, Staten Island, Westfield,… read more about John and his farm here.

This is how the CSA works: Members sign up before the growing season starts, and receive a share of veggies for 24 consecutive weeks from mid-June until the end of November. Veggies are certified organic, local, and seasonal.

Share pickup is every Wednesday, 4pm-7pm at the Button Factory:

85 Hamilton Street (between New Jersey Railroad Avenue and Bruen Street) in Newark, NJ. (In the Ironbound – close to Penn Station).

A full share will be $650 for the season (24 weeks = $27 per week) – or $625 if post marked by 3/01/2015. A half share will be $325 for the 2015 season (24 weeks = $13.50 per week) – or $313 if both half-share checks are post marked by 03/01/2015. Read here for details on splitting a share.

What exactly is in a weekly share? Shares vary in size and content throughout the season. Typically the first and second week is smaller, then shares become larger and stay large and bountiful through the season. The type of veggies vary with what is growing on the fields – but have a look at some past shares here to get a better understanding of the average size of the shares. Generally speaking: full shares are great for families or for vegetarian couples, half shares are great for singles or couples who do not eat so much veggies.

The pick-up location is run by volunteers and to make it all possible, we ask for some volunteering time (one 3.5 hour shift) from each member (each full-share member as well as each half-share member) and for $15 site fee for the season. Please see the Member Form for details.

To become a member, download the CSA Newark Member Form 2015 and follow the instructions.
